Preparation for Gustav

HAWL has taken the following precautions in preparation for Gustav:
· The lake valve has been opened.
· The Lodge has been boarded up and all other amenities prepared (pool, tennis courts, restaurant, parks, etc.).
· The Lodge, restaurant, and pool have been closed until further notice.
· The water system is “generator ready”. However, if the electricity goes out, please conserve water usage.
· Sand and sand bags are available at the firehouse. However, quantities will be limited. Property Owners will need to fill up their own bags – please bring a shovel.
· Culverts have been cleared. Please ensure your driveway culvert and ditch is cleared of all debris.
· As of today, Waste Management is planning on picking up garbage on Wednesday, September 3rd. However, this pickup date could be delayed due to the path of the storm. Any changes will be posted at the Security gate. Please do not put out any trash cans until the storm has passed.
· Parking will be allowed at the lodge during the storm.
· We have a contractor on standby to help remove damaged trees blocking HAWL roadways.
· Security will patrol Southgate for emergencies.
HAWL stresses the necessity for all property owners to take safety precautions for you, your pets, and your property.
Please secure all items which could become projectiles in strong wind or which could congest culverts and impede the drainage of storm waters.
Community-wide communication will be made through the Guard House Entrance Gate should phone service become inoperable. Pending electricity and cable outages, HAWL will update the website (www.hawlms.com) with information as necessary.
