MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!  It’s hard to believe this year has come and gone and the holiday season is upon us.  Let’s show off our lovely community with all those great holiday decorations and continue to put our best foot forward in sharing the beauty of the season here in Hide-A-Way.

This month the striping of the main, newly-repaved roads was completed.  Payment of $9,829.80 was paid to contractor Robbie Robinson, Inc.

Starting in January, our garbage collection will increase to $12.00 a month per residence with Waste Management Inc.  Our contract with Waste Management (for the $7.50 charge) expired at the end of last year.  Due to Katrina the contract time was extended until this year.  The $12.00 rate is for two years without any increase from CPI or for fuel.  After the two years, there would be a yearly increase as dictated by the CPI.  This is a jump, but garbage rates have not changed for seven years.  To compare what others around us are paying per month:  Round Rock is paying $20.00, Anchor Lake is paying $16.00, The Woods is paying $35.00 which includes water, and St. Tammany is paying $25.00.

I would like to recap last fiscal year’s capital improvements and repairs due to Katrina.

American Glass Service  ( Lodge windows)   $4,506

LMA Construction  (Lodge roof, pool building roof, and pavilion)   $32,024

Mid-Stream Marine  (Security boat repairs)   $3,917

Overhead Door Company (Firehouse door repair)  $3,989

Holcomb Fence Company  (Tennis court)   $9,560

City Carpets  (New floors at the Lodge)  $11,760

Kohler Generator and installation at Well #3      $25,748

Holcomb Fence Company (North Hill perimeter fence and repairs)   $13,515

Biloxi Sales 2002 GMC 2500 dump bed truck  $18,012

J.H. Wright & Associates/Jerry’s Plumbing Company  Lodge’s septic system & installation   $13,012

Holcomb Fence Company Fence from Southgate to Interstate $13,550

Huey Stockstill and Central Pipe  (In the area of new paving)  2006 repaving of seven miles and new culverts   $464,320

Gram, Prince, Restorations, and Inspiration (Clean up of lots and roads due to Katrina)  $47,765

This work was done at a grand total of $661,678 in capital improvements and repairs due to Katrina.  We are in the process of planning next year’s capital expenditures and we will publish that plan when completed.

To all our property owners, have a safe and happy holiday season.  And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
