Although there has been an improvement, there are still a high number of violations. Some individuals are having difficulty with their insurance company or with having FEMA trailers picked up. But as you can see, most of this is not a Hurricane Katrina problem. As General Manager, one of my jobs is to enforce Hide-a-Way Lake’s covenants and by-laws. These laws were made to preserve the quality of your surroundings in your day-to-day life with the promise of not having to deal with trash, untidy lawns, etc. I will continue to aggressively enforce these covenants to fulfill the expectations of our property owners. If you are in violation, please help by complying or by calling the office to make us aware of any special problems you may be experiencing.
As stated last month, our old 1981 back-hoe had become inoperable as a result of a fire. This month we received $13,683.33 from our equipment insurance. This will help recover some of the cost of the newly purchased 2004 New Holland back-hoe.
Last month HAWL has started the new contract with Waste Management for our garbage collection. Waste Management’s contract is to provide weekly collection of residential garbage, excluding yard waste, bulky items, and other materials which cannot be stored in your garbage containers or bags. Limits on the weekly “Monday” collection of solid waste are as follows:
-All garbage must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m.
-All garbage must be contained in trash bags. Placement of trash bags in a garbage can.
-Limit of six cans or bags per collection day.
-Yard waste and bulky items such as furniture and appliances will not be collected.*
-Construction and demolition debris will not be collected.*
*These items can be taken to Millard Landfield.
Waste Management’s holiday schedule is as follows: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If the regular “Monday” collection day falls on or directly after one of the above observed holidays, then collection will be pushed back by one day.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please give me a call at the office.
