COMMUNITY NEWS
Okay, it’s one month into 2008 - how many of you are still sticking to your new year’s resolution? I wish all of you success in your goals and endeavors. We, as a community, have already met some of our goals and are anticipating accomplishing others in a very successful and productive year.
Last month our Lake Quality Committee held a meeting with Mississippi State University (MSU) Extension Service. Our Lake Quality Committee had a great agenda on our Lake Management Program. The following overview was presented to MSU Extension Service:

*Determine level of pesticide/heavy metal concentrations in fish flesh---3 to 5 years
*Nutrient analysis---as deemed necessary
*Sedimentation study, observations, corrective action as required
*Flow measurements
Routine Operation and Maintenance of Septic Systems
Septic Tank Management Plan
Policy for Septic Systems
Inspection of Septic System---An Analysis (inspected every 3 to 5 years)
Additional Actions as Required
Assess fish populations/habitat
Removal of geese---USF&W
Control of nuisance vegetation---MSU Extension Service and Aquacide Chemical Company
MSU Extension Service said our Lake Quality Committee is doing a fine job with our lake management program. The Extension Service will help us with the grass/weeds in the lake with a detailed study in the spring and will perform soil tests from different areas in the lake. As you can see from our management program, this committee is dedicated to doing their best to
protect our lake. I want to thank our Lake Quality Committee for all their continuing hard work.
We are in the process of adding to our office space as well as painting the downstairs lodge and office areas. Stop by and take a look. It’s a long overdue and inexpensive make-over which will eventually increase our efficiency! Just like any renovation, however, it is a messy undertaking. Please excuse our mess and thank you for your patience.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
