Message from the General Manager
April 2011

With the beautiful month of April, we officially usher in the start of spring.  What a perfect time with the green lawns and spring flowers in bloom...and what a welcomed sight for our community!  I wish everyone a Happy Easterand hope that you enjoy your home here with your family and friends.

Last month, we purchased a new, Kubota 4 WD 34 HP tractor with a 5’ rotary cutter from Watts Brothers Tractor Company for $14,108.50.  This will replace the 1983 model Massey Ferguson tractor, which had become costly with continuous repairs. The Massey Ferguson was sold for $1,000.00 with the proceeds put toward the purchase of the new Kubota.  This capital purchase for the Maintenance Department will be a well-used addition to the department.

As reported last month, the individual responsible for thefts from the vehicles here in Hide-A-Way was apprehended by Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department. However, in addition to these thefts last month, the RV Park was broken into as well as two homes, located on the west side, had attempted break-ins. This is a major problem; we have increased our security patrols but they cannot be everywhere at all times. Please keep your eyes open and report any suspicious activity.  Please report to Security anything which does not seem quite right.  We need all eyes to help us catch these criminals.

After April 3rd, the outside lane at the main gate will be for “Automatic Tag with Decal” only, the gate will automatically open and close for those residents.   The old, expired decals and the discontinued gate cards will no longer be accepted for entry.  Those individuals without the automatic tag with decal must use the inside “visitor” lane. This requires stopping at the guard house for their driver’s license to be presented for entry. If a resident, the license will only be used to visually verify that the resident is in the database.   If a visitor, the license will be scanned and copied into a secured database and will be checked for pre-approved gate entry.  If the visitor is not pre-registered, then the visitor will be asked to pull into the parking lot.  Please inform your visitors that they must be pre-registered by you and have their driver’s license scanned by the guard.  This will help monitor entry of non-residents into the community.

As in the past, the property owner can still contact the guard gate to "call in" a visitor from a phone number listed in the HAWL database.  Now, we have the additional option of using the E-Advance system, which allows the property owner to log in their visitors online through our website.  Either when "calling in" the visitor at the guard gate or when using the online E-Advance link, the property owner must use the correct spelling of the visitor's first and last names for a quick entry.  The property owner may have the visitor authorized for entry just for a single day or for an extended period of time in lieu of "calling-in" frequent guests. This system will allow you to pre-register visitors or even small groups at a time and also affords you the opportunity to view and remove your visitor's registration.  To access the E-Advance System:

1. Go to our website at www.hawlms.com.

2. Click on the E-Advance Pre-Register Visitor link.

3.Log in the property owner's name and password (passwords were mailed to property owners last month).  “If having problems logging in, call the office so we can assist.”

4.Time/Length of visit.  Enter arrival date. If guest's visit is extended - longer than the one day, enter departure date.

5.Provide the visitor's first and last name ensuring that the spelling is correct.

6.Submit registration and log off.

Thank you for your continued patience.  As we are making these major improvements, we are all, at times, inconvenienced; I appreciate you working with us to make these transitions as painless as possible.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
