Happy March and welcome Spring-time! I hope all will have a safe and fun Mardi Gras and I think most of you would agree that it is time for some warmer weather. Not that we have let all that cold weather slow us down much; the community has had lots going on. Here are some action items from last month as well as upcoming items.
Our annual, year-end audit was completed by Whitfield and Company last month. You can review the actual final financial numbers on page 10 of this month’s Echoes. As usual, the auditor presented his findings at the February Board meeting. I’m happy to report that our procedures were again found to be appropriate and properly followed. I would like to thank our staff for a job well-done. We will continue to strive to provide only the most accurate fiscal reporting to you.
Last month, the road striping crew finally came in to complete this project (actually delayed due to the cold, rainy weather). All newly re-paved, main roads were stripped along with some re-striping of “center only” on some older pavement. This total capital improvement cost $3,934.00 and was paid to Robbie Robinson, Inc.
Roads striped:
· East Lakeshore Drive #607—#703, #800—#1008, #1714 to back spillway
· Southgate
Re-striped, Center Only:
· Edgewood, East Lakeshore Drive #308-#607 block, West Lakeshore Drive #100 block to Big Pine
· Bridge to West Lakeshore
The new “Automatic Tag with Decal” for THE OUTSIDE LANE began selling last month. We have had a good response from property owners coming in to purchase these new tags/decals. Please note that after April 3rd, the Outside Lane will be for the “Automatic Tag with Decal” only. After that date, old, expired decals and the discontinued gate cards will no longer be allowed. Those individuals without the new Automatic Tag with Decal, must use the inside “Visitor” Lane which will require stopping at the guard house, and having their driver’s license scanned for entry. These individuals will be allowed in only if that resident’s name is in the database. I suggest that property owners purchase the “Automatic Tag with Decal” for themselves and for their dependents. This will expedite entry into the community. See Page 4 of this Echoes for details on the new gate procedures.
Effective March 7, 2011 those utilizing the inside “Visitor Lane” should be in the Access Control System database as a resident, renter, authorized visitor, or have entry registered and approved by HAWL, such as an employee, realtor, lawn service, or contractor in order to be allowed entry. A driver’s license must be presented to the guard and visitor’s license will be scanned into the Access Control System database. If the individual is not in the database, then entry will not be granted. As in the past, the property owner can still call the guard gate to log in a visitor from a phone that is registered in the database. Now, we have an additional option of the E-Advance System, which allows property owners to log in their visitors online through our website, www.hawlms.com, by clicking on the E-Advance Pre-Register Visitor link. (Log in property owner’s name and password.) Either by calling in the visitor at the guardhouse or using the online E-Advance link, the visitors correct spelling of first and last names are most important for a quick entry and also time of visit. The E-Advance System will allow property owner to pre-register visitors, pre-register small groups at one time and also allows property owner to view and remove visitor registrations. Property owners will receive a separate mailing by March 14th with information on logging in and passwords. The passwords will only be given to the property owner. Once online, the property owner can change the password.
Thank you for your continued patience. As we are making these major improvements, we are all, at times, inconvenienced; I appreciate your working with us to make these transitions as painless as possible. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
