March 2008 GM Message
It is hard to believe that spring will soon be in the air. I am looking forward to seeing the green lawns and colorful flowers again in our community. This season is always a great time for
everyone to beautify their property.

Last month we received six bids for our bridge maintenance project from the following:

Buford Construction Company, Inc. $53,032.50     CCI                            $74,991.70
Hensley R. Lee Contracting           $55,048.00      Pearl River Paving*      $25,405.00
Holliday Construction, LLC.           $47,300.00      Restoration Unlimited   $43,097.49

The project was awarded to Pearl River Paving* which came with good recommendations for doing work on county bridges/and other county projects. Work will consist of removal of the remaining concrete spillway located under the bridge, the sides sloped and covered with filter fabric and rip-rap (rocks) added to prevent future washouts. The construction will be overseen by Dungan Engineering Firm. This project should be completed by May. During this project, there will be some traffic control issues with lane closings but this will not be done during high traffic times. Please be patient as this work is ongoing.

Our maintenance building project is also in progress. Last month we reviewed four bids for the 40’ width x 80’ length x 16’ height metal building. The bids include: the slab and assembly with three 12’ x 14’ rollup doors, two 30” x 70” entrance doors, insulation, four ridge vents, one louver with a fan, gutters, and a down spout system on one side of the building. Bids were from the following companies.

Ace Metal Building and Components*      $49,407.88
Patten’s Metal Express                               $63,312.38
ReflecTech, Inc.                                            $74,150.00
Gebhard Enterprise, Inc.                             $88,400.00

The project was awarded to Ace Metal Buildings and Components*. This project should also be completed by May. This new building is a welcomed sight and will protect the assets of the maintenance department’s equipment.

Our yearly audit has now been completed by Whitfield & Company. You can review the actual numbers on page 6 of this month’s Echoes. I would like to thank our office staff for a job well done during this audit review. I attribute the successfulness of this audit to the longevity of our current personnel, their attention to detail and proper procedures as well as their overall
dedication to Hide-A-Way.

As stated last month, our downstairs lodge is getting a “make-over” which is almost complete. We have a new informational wall where you can read up on most anything relating to Hide-A-Way Lake. Come on over and take a look. Our maintenance guys have done a great job in
upgrading our new “digs”.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
