Summer break for the school year is coming to an end this month. It is hard to believe we are over half-way through this year – time’s flying. I hope everyone enjoyed the activities/amenities over the last few months and will continue to use them. Check out our restaurant “Waters Edge”. There are plays and comedy nights coming up, as well as the Ladies Brunch, Bingo, and Boutique, etc. so make your reservations today.
Last month bid requests for repaving approximately two miles of roads were sent to the following four companies: Huey Stockstill, Inc., Boh Bros. Construction, Warren Paving, Inc., and Barriere Construction Co. The bids went out to repave the following roads:
· Entrance East Lakeshore Drive to Hide-A-Way Lane
· East Lakeshore Drive – 200 Block to 308 Block
· East Lakeshore Drive – 703 Block to 808 Block
· Hide-A-Way Lane – to Bridge
· Hide-A-Way Lane 607 Block to Rustic Lane
The bids will be opened next month for Board review and depending on the amount of available funds, all will be done. This project is scheduled to be done in the 4th quarter. Next month I will be able to let everyone know which roadways will be done and a more precise timeframe.
Last month new patio deck tables and chairs were purchased for the top deck of the restaurant. This capital purchase totaled $2,437.10. Come by and check it out and enjoy the deck…best view around!
Two drainage project improvements were completed last month in the 500 block of West Lakeshore and the other at West Side Circle. Work was done by our maintenance department. Property owners in these areas should notice the improvement in drainage.
As stated in May’s article, the topic of centralized sewer in our community has come up again. Last month a memorandum of understanding between Hide-A-Way Lake Club, Inc. and Pearl River County Utility Authority “PRCUA” was signed to allow the application process for possible funding for waste water infrastructure within our community. This was needed for the application process, as the PRCUA has applied for a grant of at least five million dollars ($5,000,000) from the United States Stimulus Package State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality “MDEQ”. For more details, please see the “Long Range Planning” section of the Committee Briefs from last month’s Board meeting (page 4 of this month’s Echoes). Remember this is still a big “IF” and I will keep you posted as more information is received.
The alligator is still in our lake. We had two sightings over the past two months. If you see the alligator, please call Security (601-798-1247) with the location as we are still working with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to have it removed.
As always, I thank you for your help and input. Please call me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I am here to help you.
