This weather has been wonderful and with all the bright colors of our community in bloom, it is obvious that many of you have been out enjoying the beautification process. We are also reminded as the pages flip on our calendar, this year is going quickly. As the summer months approach, May brings with it many new action items we are pleased to present to you.
Our Building Code was updated last month. The changes were mainly in three subject areas:
· Contractor Qualifications, Section #2
· Wastewater Disposal System, Section #6
· Site Work and Storm Drainage, Section #3 and #6
The need for this update was brought about by the new centralized sewer presently being installed in our community and the anticipated drainage issue which comes with any major construction project. After working with the Mississippi State Department of Health for the last few months, our Architectural Committee submitted the new Building Code for approval at last month’s Board of Directors meeting. Copies are on our web-site, hawlms.com and at our office for your review. I would like to personally thank our Architectural Committee for their knowledge and assistance in this update process and for their dedication to our community. This committee reviews every building permit to make sure the proposed work meets HAWL’s covenant restrictions and the County’s regulations. It is my pleasure working with property owners who care enough to take part in maintaining this community and who willingly donate their time and energy to ensure we continue to have a beautiful and safe place to live, play, and raise our families.
As stated earlier, the Pearl River County Utility Authority Sewer Project has begun. The project began in the back stable area on the east side. When work is actually beginning in your area, the Pearl River County Utility Authority will pre-notify residents, within the specific area, via their blackboard mass notification system. This system allows them to send automated phone messages. One message you will receive will be as follows:
“This is an automated message from the Pearl River County Utility Authority. Utility crews are scheduled to be working in your area over the next few weeks. These crews will be installing sewer mains along the road right of way as a part of the Hide-A-Way Lake Sewer Project. You will be receiving a separate call at a later date to schedule an inspection of your individual property for placement of the grinder pump unit. If you notice any disruption of services such as water, telephone, power or cable television, please call Mickey Gillespe at 601-215-1977 to report the problem. Thank you.”
For your continued enjoyment of all HAWL common grounds, our Maintenance Department has been working hard preparing the parks on the east and west sides, the marinas, pools and beach area for all those summer activities. Please take advantage of the beautiful weather and check out these areas. Our pool hours can be found on the calendar, page 5 of this months Echoes.
I again thank you for your patience and your consideration during our time of growth. And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
