June is here and the hot days of summer are upon us. We are very appreciative to all those who has done so much to recover from the hurricane. The improvements can be seen on a daily basis.
Unfortunately we still have a number of property owners still putting debris out on the road. Please note, there is no more pickup in our community. It is the property owner’s responsibility to remove all debris. We are currently working with approximately 50 property owners that are in violation of the condition of their property.
And now some “Great News”: As stated in the last two newsletters, we have been working very hard on our capital expenditure of repaving approximately seven miles of roads. This work has been approved at the last Board of Directors meeting. The project, which is scheduled to be competed within three weeks from the start date, will begin between August 14, 2006 and September 5, 2006. The reason we are waiting until this time frame is to protect our investment. BellSouth will continue to work in HAWL until July. Heavy equipment currently remains traveling on our roads and the new culverts we are replacing must settle for a minimum of sixty days. Following is the list of streets that will be repaved:
Eastside Westside
East Lakeshore Drive (300 to 600 Block) Hide-A-Way Lane by Bridge
Glenbrook Court Brookhollow Drive
Marina Circle Hide-A Way Lane (200 to 600 Block)
Woodlawn Drive Tanglewood Drive
Southgate Drive Greenwood Drive
Pine Burr Drive Fairview Court
Sunnybrook Road Forest Court
East Sunnybrook Road Summit Drive
West Sunnybrook Road Placid Lane
Driftwood Road Rustic Lane
Northridge Drive Ridgeview Drive (500 Block to Hide-A-Way Lane)
Nutbush Drive
Meadowlark Lane
Charwood Drive
Cragmont Street
Rollingwood Drive - from Willow Street to Cragmont Street
Willow Street
The repaving will definitely improve our community. The total cost of the repaving roads project is $461,714.80, which is approximately $66,000 per mile. Compared to $47,000 per mile from our last repaving project two years ago, this amounts to a 43% increase. This shows how much costs have escalated. I commend our board for helping to make enhancements like this happen.
Thank you again for your help and input. As always, please call me if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I am here to help you.
