May 2007

As another page on the calendar turns and we dive into summer, the anticipation of the season is apparent on the faces of the school kids.   I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer.

The white car decals and gate cards have now expired.  If you do not have the new gold car decals or the gold gate cards, Security will be stopping you at the gate.

Please be aware of our security procedure regarding juveniles entering HAWL.   Even though a juvenile resident has in their possession a gate card or has a decal on the vehicle they are in, the vehicle will be detained if there are other individuals in the vehicle.  Verification of the non-residents will be made to ensure they have been called in by the property owner.  The entry of the non resident will be allowed only if that individual has been called in or in the case of another juvenile, if it is prior to curfew time.  Please assist us in enforcing these rules for the safety of your youth and for our community.

The Pearl River County Board of Supervisor has announced that FEMA has received funding for removal of standing dead trees which endanger roads or homes.  HAWL has been approved to receive this benefit.  Workers have already started marking trees all over the county which are eligible to be cut and removed.  HAWL has over 200 dead pine trees still standing.  This is an excellent opportunity for our property owners to have their standing dead trees removed.

Holcomb Fence Company has completed installing 1,600 feet of perimeter fencing on the North Hill side.  The total cost of $19,020 for this capital improvement project was paid to them on March 29th from our capital reserve fund.

On April 11th, bid requests for repaving two miles of roads and the lodge parking lot were sent out to the following four companies:  Huey Stockstill, Inc., Boh Bros.

Construction, Warren Paving, Inc., and Barriere Construction Co. LLC.  The bids will be opened in May.

On March 19th and March 20th, my administrative assistant, one of our board members, the Finance Committee chairman, a representative of the Public Affairs Committee, and I visited the Hide-A-Way Lake Club in Texas.  The purpose of this trip was to get an overview of their operation as a gated community club and as an incorporated city.  Much was learned on this visit and the information gathered will be beneficial to our organization now and for the future.

The young people of the community will enjoy the new volleyball net and tether ball set for the east playground.  The playground equipment at both parks has been repainted and is ready for summertime fun.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
