YEAH!! Fall is finally here! The cooler weather really calls to us to get outside and do something, anything, as long as it is outside! I would like to encourage everyone to take advantage of this colorful season - and the lovely weather - and enjoy your community and all it has to offer.
Our community has shown great progress in recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Fourteen months has now passed since Katrina. It is my request and that of the Board of Directors that we all work together to remove all residual traces of the damages our community suffered at the "winds" of Katrina by December 31, 2006. There are still some properties with Katrina damage as well as a number of properties in violation of HAWL's Restrictions & Covenants. The following is a list of current violations which are being monitored with time frames in place for completion. After the time frame elapses, and administrative fee, which will DOUBLE each subsequent notification will be assessed until steps are taken to remedy the situation. The fee is not the goal. The goal for our community is not only to reflect the increasing property value, but to once again establish the fact that this is truly a great place to live.
Out of 922 homes in our community we have 121 violations.
- Katrina Damage - 24
- FEMA Trailers - 5
- Junk/Disabled Cars/Boats - 10
- Yard Violations (grass needing to be cut, junk to be cleaned up, etc) - 35
- Dead/Dying Trees - 37
- Violations of Building Code - 10
This past month a new security system was installed for our front gate for a total cost of $3,437 from Fort Knox Security. Also this past month, we had to purchase a new ice machine for our restaurant from Artic Refrigeration for a total of $4,500 installed. Both items were not planned but long overdue.
As stated last month, our Board approved a task force of property owners to assist with evaluating our Restaurant. One main idea, decor, is now complete...and it looks GREAT! I'm very thankful for Mr. & Mrs. Don Williams & Mr. & Mrs. Ed Ennis. They are part of this task force and not only did they have a vision, they worked many days and long hours to make it happen at a very low cost to us. Many ideas and suggestions are made, but when people get involved and make those ideas reality, everyone benefits. I encouraged everyone from the property owners who has been here the longest to the newest members of our community to get involved and actively participate with our Board and committees.
I would like to invite you to come and see our new restaurant decor and to continue to watch for more upcoming changes. And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at the office.
