Recycling Drive - Saturday, August 7, 2010

HIDE-A-WAY GOES GREEN: In an effort to protect the environment and support our local SPCA and Picayune Industries, HAWL Social Committee will be hosting another Recycling Drive. Please note, Picayune Industries can no longer accept PLASTIC.

The following items will be collected:

· Aluminum Cans– must be crushed and bagged

· Newspapers– bundled (no magazines, catalogs, or telephone books)

· Mardi Gras Beads– bagged

· Candles- no glass containers

· Blankets, Towels, and Sheets (requested by the SPCA for the animals)

· Cardboard - clean ONLY (cannot contain food; inside liner of

cereal boxes should be removed)

The above items may be dropped off at the HAWL Lodge parking lot from 7:30 am to 10:00 am on Aug. 7th (no early drop-offs please). Those dropping off recyclable goods will receive a coupon for 10% off their purchase at Waters Edge. This coupon must be redeemed by August 31, 2010.

Family Night Buffet

On Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 5:00 pm-8:30 pm, Waters Edge will be hosting a Family Night Buffet. The buffet will feature family favorites such as Spaghetti and Meatballs, Fried Chicken, Bronzed Catfish, as well as Soup, a Salad Bar, and Sweet Confections. The cost of the buffet is only$9.95 for Adults, 99¢ for Children 12 and Under, and FREE for Children 4 and Under. Bring the entire family to Waters Edge, as these delicious items will set the stage for a short break from the hustle of that new school schedule fatigue.

A New Night to Laugh

Come see Becky Allen & Jodi Borrello for a comedy night you’ll never forget! A New Orleans icon, Becky Allen has appeared in a dazzling array of musicals, comedies, and cabaret shows. She won the 2007 Storer Boone Award for her starring role in Kimberly Akimbo. Other recent shows include “Boobs! The Musical”, “OKRA”, Dirty Blonde”, the Fred Palmisano revue “Tunes”, and Ricky Graham’s long-running comedy “And the Ball and All”. Becky has also appeared in a number of feature films and local television and radio commercials. She is a multiple recipient of the Gambit and New Orleans Magazine favorite actress awards. Becky also received the Big Easy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jodi Borrello was born and raised in New Orleans and brings a never ending smile and signature laugh that are infectious with audiences. A favorite at Budd Friedman’s The Improv, she is a regular at Harrah’s in Las Vegas. Jodi was named in the prestigious award as New Orleans Magazine’s 30 People to Watch. Recently Jodi opened for comedian Dennis Miller and was featured on CNN’s Showbiz Tonight and the Weather Channel. Her comedic material is featured alongside the top female comedians in the bestselling book, “She’s so Funny”.

Dinner will start with a hearty Hamburger Steak served over Mashed Potatoes and topped with a rich Brown Gravy, sautéed Onions, and Mushrooms joined by a Vegetable and a warm Roll. Then satisfy that sweet tooth with a delicious Pecan Cobbler. Coffee, Tea, and Water will also be served.

Brunch, Bingo, & Boutique

Hide-A-Way Lake Social Committee is hosting a Ladies Luncheon and Local Business Fair in Waters Edge Restaurant on September 14, 2010 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Local businesses will be at Waters Edge restaurant in order to showcase their goods and services. All guests will be served a light lunch. There will also be 10 games of bingo for guests’ participation. There is a $12.00 per person charge (tax & tip incorporated), which includes lunch and the bingo games.

Please remember, reservations are required and must be made by September 3, 2010 for this event. There must be a minimum of 40 participants signed up in order to have this event, so make your reservations today by calling the HAWL office at 601-798-1484.

BBB Vendors

Call the HAWL Office at 601-798-1484 in order to reserve a space. Spaces are $10.00. Set up begins at 8:30am and shopping begins at 10:00am.

Fall Flea Market at the Lodge

The HAWL flea market will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Lodge from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. The cost of each space (2 parking spaces) is only $10. Please note the following:

The "rain date" is scheduled for October 16, 2010.
There is a limit of 2 spaces (4 parking spaces) per property owner.
Participants are required to supply their own tables.
Participants are required to remove all of their boxes and debris after the event.
Setup cannot be done the night before the flea market.
Participants can begin setting up the day of the flea market at 6:00 am. Setup must be completed by 7:30 am, at this time all vehicles will need to be removed from the area.

Dinner Theater

On November 12th and 13th Picayune on Stage will be at Waters Edge performing a comedy. Please continue to check the website and Echoes for more information as it becomes available.
