Boat Traffic Safety Alert

Aug 12, 2025

Your assistance is needed to promote and enforce safety on the lake. Property owners and HAWL Security have witnessed boats on the lake not following the safety guidelines. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT AS A PROPERTY OWNER, YOU ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE, WHETHER YOU ARE PRESENT OR NOT, FOR THE ACTIONS OF YOUR RESIDENTS AND GUESTS AT ALL TIMES WHILE THEY ARE IN THE COMMUNITY. THIS INCLUDES HAVING FULL KNOWLEDGE OF ALL BOATING AND LAKE RULES.

The following areas need attention:
All boat traffic must travel in a counter-clockwise direction on the OPEN MAIN LAKE and boats must be at least 100’ from shore.

Speed and wake control are the vessel operator’s responsibility. This is to ensure that the boat is not causing any discomfort, hazards, injuries, or damages to any surrounding people, vessels, or property.

Beginning at dusk, which is currently 7:45 pm, and throughout the night, it is MANDATORY that all required lights on the boat are on and there is no wake on the entire lake.

The entirety of HAWL’s Boating Rules are attached.

It is important to address these concerns and stop the unsafe actions on the lake that have been happening recently. These dangerous actions will not be tolerated by fellow property owners or the HAWL staff, which includes HAWL Security.

HAWL Security has been directed to assist and stop the few boaters who are not following the HAWL Boating Rules. If you see anyone violating these rules, contact Security at the Main Gate at 601-798-1247 while the incident is taking place with as much information as possible. Helpful information includes a description of the boat such as type, color, and HAWL decal number. Location and direction the boat was traveling is also useful.

Thank you to the property owners that keep the lake safe by following and enforcing the HAWL Boating Rules. Please continue to report any unsafe behavior. Security will respond; however, your partnership is needed.
